    AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company, is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

     

    The Director, Government Contracting, Pricing and reporting position is responsible for collaborating with leadership from Managed Markets, Marketing, Legal, and Sales to initiate, develop, and execute contract and pricing strategies with Commercial, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and Government (VA/DOD) entities that achieve product access at favorable terms. Key tasks for this position will also include collaborating with legal to enforce contract compliance, accurate and timely Medicaid rebate payments, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of government price reporting obligations. Government reporting obligations include the calculation and reporting of: AMP, ASP, BP, PHS, NFAMP, and FCP/FSS.

    Responsibilities

    • Partner with the Market Access (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, VA/DOD) account teams to develop payer strategies, manage contracts and provide pricing and contract submission support for channel/account specific contracting opportunities.
    • Maintains and complies with all authoritative government guidance regarding government pricing and reporting requirements for the federal and state programs in which AveXis participates. 
    • Accountable for accurate and timely submissions of all government price reporting obligations, including but not limited to: AMP, BP, ASP, NFAMP, FCP and 340B/PHS.
    • Identifies anomalies and trends to ensure contract compliance and discount payment accuracy to the Planning & Analysis, Finance, and Managed Markets teams.  Output from the analysis performed may be used to adjust Plan/Update/LRP/LBE and/or financial accruals.
    • Reviews, validates, and reconciles all monthly/quarterly discount payments for all Commercial, Medicare Part D, Medicaid, and/or Government contracted customers.  This thorough review process ensures all aspects of the discount payment and all supporting documentation are accurate, complete and compliant within the terms and conditions of the contract (i.e., pricing, formulary/benefit design), J-Sox audit requirements, government price reporting and any/all reporting regulations as defined within AveXis’ policies and guidelines related to discount processing. 
    • Participate in the AveXis Pricing Committee. Serves as the government channel expert for proposed and implemented regulatory/legislative changes in the Federal and State programs which may impact access, reimbursement, and/or pricing of AveXis products.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum 10 years of related experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry with at least 5 years of government contracting, pricing and reporting experience.
    • Management experience and proven ability to develop a team required.
    • Ability to successfully manage competing priorities, meet challenging deadlines, and work independently across the organization escalating issues as appropriate.
    • Demonstrated attention to detail; accountability and ownership of results; flexibility and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
    • Strong analytical ability, oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated project management (including vendor management) skills.
    • Experience working with and understanding of GP pricing systems (CARS, GP, Model N).

     

    The level of this position will be based on the final candidate’s qualifications.
