    AveXis, Inc., a Novartis Company, is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.


    The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of a wide variety of processes and programs.  This role will be a mix of transactional tasks and support activities for Site Leadership Team. It will involve Internal and external interactions. Direct administrative support to the staff across a site to ensure productivity through routine administrative activities as well as non-routine activities and special projects. 


    • Supports the AveXis team with administrative work that requires confidentiality across the Function as defined through external contacts and cross-department activities at AveXis.
    • Represents AveXis to internal and external business contacts.
    • Manages calendaring and scheduling needs for the department and AveXis management.
    • Supports efforts related to AveXis processes and programs including scheduling meetings, arranging plans for local based events.
    • Acts as a liaison, solution-oriented problem solver, and facilitator as the first contact for the team.
    • Effectively and successfully responds to problem situations and ability to prioritize issues.
    • Maintain a high level of data sensitivity and be responsible for protecting employee data privacy at all times and have strict adherence to confidentiality and compliance policies.


    • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience of 2 years of administrative support.
    • Demonstrated capability to work with discretion and tact in an environment exposed to a high level of sensitive and confidential information.
    • Acts with sense of urgency and understands need for responsiveness on occasion after standard business hours and some weekends, as needed.
    • Excellent communication and proofreading skills.
    • Solid understanding of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and other Microsoft Office programs.
    • Ability to travel on a limited basis to corporate headquarters for additional training and events.

    The level of this position will be based on the final candidate’s qualifications.
