AveXis, Inc. is a clinical-stage gene therapy company, dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product candidate, AVXS-101, is our proprietary gene therapy product candidate currently in development for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy, or SMA, Type 1, the leading genetic cause of infant mortality, and for the treatment of SMA Type 2. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA, has granted AVXS-101 Orphan Drug Designation for the treatment of all types of SMA and Breakthrough Therapy Designation, as well as Fast Track Designation for the treatment of SMA Type 1. In addition to developing AVXS-101 to treat SMA Type 1 and Type 2, we also plan to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome (RTT) and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

 

AveXis is seeking a IT Manager, QAD Applications.  The IT Manager, QAD Applications’ role is to supervise and operate the organization’s QAD systems through implementation best practices. This includes installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining the company’s investments in proprietary QAD technologies. This person is also responsible for planning and coordinating the change management of processes required for the support of QAD systems necessary for business operations. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to solve issues related to the deployment of mission-critical QAD software.

 

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Ensure that QAD software meets business requirements and goals, fulfills user requirements, and identifies and resolves systems issues.
  • Develop and oversee the QAD change management process across the organization in all affected areas.
  • Ensure that QAD deployment enhances operating systems, networks, telecommunications, or other areas where it is deployed.

 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Recommend any additional hardware or software requirements needed for successful QAD deployments, configuration, or maintenance.
  • Assign the appropriate staff to work on projects where QAD software is involved.
  • Negotiate contracts with QAD software and service providers.
  • Liaise with company’s QAD suppliers for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.
  • Evaluate proposals to identify potential problem areas, and make the appropriate recommendations.

 

Operational Management

  • Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy QAD applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in the testing of QAD software programs and applications.
  • Ensure that any QAD integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Perform daily monitoring and troubleshooting of the QAD system; install and configure patches and upgrades as required.
  • Prepare and deliver activity and progress reports for presentation to the executive management team.
  • Provide direction for the application team in support of QAD operations.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies for QAD products under consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings.
  • Liaise with network administrators and software engineers to assist with design specifications, program logic, and data conversions.

 

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or business administration, and/or 10 years equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years direct experience administrating QAD applications
  • 2+ year+ experience with SOX compliance and auditing
  • Proven experience in overseeing the direction, development, and implementation of QAD software solutions.
  • Technically fluent in relational database administration, including Progress.
  • Knowledge of enterprise-level applications, including ERP, CRM, data warehouses, etc.
  • GMP regulations experience preferred

  • Ability to gain solid understanding of the business process, workflows and data requirements for QAD.
  • Administer QAD, including design and configuration.
  • Establish close partnerships with departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyze business processes and workflows.
  • Strong business/client engagement skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of systems integration.

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate’s qualifications.
