Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for owning the fixed asset accounting process including account analysis and reconciliations for all locations, as well as, ownership of key SOX controls.  This person must be a self-starter who can solve complex situations that arise, along with the ability to analyze the root cause of the problem and identify sustainable solutions.  This person will primarily be responsible for fixed asset but also could work on other areas of the general ledger.  This individual must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced ever-changing environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms related to fixed assets.
  • Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
  • Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system.
  • Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
  • Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
  • Calculate depreciation for all fixed assets.
  • Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
  • Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
  • Lead periodic fixed asset reviews with other locations
  • Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets.
  • Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
  • Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
  • Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
  • Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
  • Participate in month-end close process by performing analysis and preparing journal entries
  • Support all financial related audits including compliance, internal and external audits and SOX
  • Specific projects and other ad hoc assignments as required
  • Maintain reconciliations of balance sheet accounts

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting Required
  • Experience maintaining fixed assets in a manufacturing company required
  • ERP Experience required
  • 4+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP required
  • CPA preferred
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, including direct experience with SOX compliance
  • Advanced abilities in Excel
  • Pharmaceutical or biotech experience preferred

The level of this position will be based on the final candidate’s qualifications.
